What to Bring

 

PASSPORT: You will need your passport leaving and re-entering the USA, entering and leaving Costa Rica. You may need your passport traveling in CR. Make a copy of the first inside page of your passport showing your picture and signature. This you can keep with you at all times when you'er out and about. The police will accept this identification, etc. Ask the official stamping your passport to stamp the copy also this will show the date you entered Costa Rica that way the police will know that you are not staying past the ninty day limit.

CASH, TRAVELER'S CHECKS

CREDIT CARDS: Only bring one or two cards with you in case your cards are lost or stolen. Visa, MC and American Express are widely accepted in CR.

MEDICATIONS

BOOKS, READING LIGHT and GLASSES.

CAMERA, FILM, BATTERIES

HEADLIGHT, FLASHLIGHT: Spare bulbs

SNAKE BAGS, DELI CUPS

SNAKE HOOK: You should use a Collapsible Hook for easy packing.

BUG SPRAY: Aerosol NOT permitted on airplanes. We rarely come across any bugs, but be prepared.

SUN BLOCK: We are only nine degrees from the equator.

SUNGLASSES

FANNY PACK, BACK PACK

CLOTHING: Shorts, jeans, tee shirts, light jacket, rain gear, hat.

SHOES: Tennis shoes, sandals and water/beach shoes. Boots if you want, but they are a pain if you get them wet.

ZIP LOCK BAGS: Keep your camera and other things dry if we get caught in a storm.

WATER BOTTLE: The water is no problem in CR. You can fill your bottle every day at the hotel.

 

Pack light as possible, one bag per person will be ideal. You can have your clothes washed at the hotel.
